Replay of Jordan Foaling

Although Jordan decided to present us with a beautiful filly  23 days early, everything was perfect.  Here is a link to the replay of Jordan foaling.

Jordan is getting close

Apparently Jordan did not read the due dates page on our site.  She is at 314 days and showing all the signs that it won’t be long before she has her baby.  She has a history of foaling early but not quite this early.  She is testing the max on her calcium test and her pH level is at 6.3.  She also has heavy wax and loose muscles.  We have her in the barn and are watching her very closely.  I will have the audio back on in the barn this afternoon.

Some people have said that they are having trouble seeing the cams while using Chrome.  If you pull up the page and don’t see the streaming cams, try using another browser.

I’ll keep you updated.

The cams are back on

It's time to start keeping an eye on the mares and we are now bringing Jordan and Legacy into the barn each night.  Jordan has a history of foaling early so we want to be sure to have her where we can watch her.  This will be Legacy's first foal and we are excited to see what she and BlackJack will give us.

I'll keep you updated as we see any changes in the mares.

Thanks for joining us again this year as we watch the mares.

Our 2018 Foaling Lineup

We are expecting eight foals in 2018.  The first foal is due in mid January so I will start bringing some of the mares inside and have them on the cams in mid December. I have added a 2018 Due Dates  page to the site.  There you can see who each mare is bred to as well as her due date.  You can also click on a mare's name and go to her individual page with photos and a link to see her previous foals.

We look forward to sharing the 2018 foaling season with you.

  Our 2017 Foals

This has been a great foaling season.  All the moms and foals are happy and healthy and are enjoying the nice Spring weather.  We are working with the foals daily and they are all doing so well.  I'll have some new "baby school" videos up soon.  Thanks to all of you who have helped us watch over the mares this year.

Today is Karma's due date and we are stilling waiting for a baby.  It's a beautiful day here and we have her outside so she can enjoy the nice weather and get some exercise.  We are keeping a close eye on her while she is out and will bring her in if we see her acting differently.  Her rump muscles are so relaxed that they jiggle.  It's up to Karma and the baby as to when we will meet the new one.  All we can do is watch her and look forward to a new baby soon.

Karma Update

Karma is now 5 days from her due date and we are keeping a close eye on her.  Last year she went out for the day and when we went to feed that evening we found a beautiful filly with her. She goes out during the day but you can bet we are checking on her often this year and will definitely bring her inside if we see her acting differently.  We're looking forward to another beautiful foal from Karma and Prince and hope you can join us for the birth.

Friday, March 10, 2017

Karisma is now three days from her due date and is making changes.  Her muscles are softening, she is testing five squares on her calcium test and her pH is at 6.7.  We are keeping a close watch on her and hope you can join us.

Saturday, March 4, 2017

Midnite really surprised us this year.  She certainly didn't appear to be close to foaling when we checked her early evening but she foaled a beautiful solid black colt around midnight.  We have named him Freelands Midnite's Shadow.  I did not have time to send text alerts before she foaled.

Here is a link to the replay of his birth.

Update on Midnite:

Midnite's numbers are finally changing.  Her calcium test is at 4.5 out of a possible 5 and her pH has dropped to 6.6.  Maybe we will see things moving along now.  I'll keep you updated with any changes.

Thanks for watching with us.

IT'S A COLT.............OOPS  NO, A FILLY

When Windsong foaled we announced that we had a colt. We even gave him a name and then when he was two days old we discovered that HE was in fact a SHE.

There has been lots of teasing and laughs around here over this one.

We are very pleased to announce that Windsong and Casanova have a daughter and her name is Freelands Foxy Lady. We will call her Foxy.

I'll get some pictures of her and post them soon.

Sunday, February 19, 2017

We are watching Windsong very closely.

Her pH is down to 6.0 and her calcium test is at the max. Her bag is huge and tight and she has heavy wax.

We are hoping for a new baby in the barn soon.

Saturday, February 18, 2017

Windsong has made big changes today.

Her pH has dropped to 6.2 and her calcium test is at the max on my test strips.  She also has heavy wax.

We will be watching her very closely.  Hope you can join us.

Friday, February 17, 2017

Windsong is making changes.

Her bag has increased, pH is dropping and calcium test rising. Her rump muscles are softening.

She looks like she is carrying a small car in that big belly.

I'll keep you updated on her progress.

Jericho is two weeks old today and we enjoyed playing with him outside in the nice weather . He is such a sweet colt and loves attention.

Wednesday, February 8, 2017

We had to say goodbye to our beautiful mare Pollyann yesterday afternoon.  She was my very first Gypsy horse and was a spectacular mare.  I will miss her so much.  Run free in green pastures Polly.

Monday, February 6, 2017

It's time to start watching Windsong and Midnite.  We will be bringing both in each night and they will be on the cams.

Both mares are in foal by Casanova and we are really looking forward to the birth of these foals.

I hope you can join us as we wait for the birth of the new babies.

Jordan's New Colt

Once again Jordan and Prince have given us an outstanding colt.  He is beautiful and healthy and we couldn't be more pleased with him.  We have named in Freelands Gypsy Jericho.

They went outside for the first time today and he was so cute to watch stretching his long legs.

Here are some pictures I took while they were outside.

Saturday, January 28, 2017

Jordan is showing all the signs that she is getting very close.  Her bag is full and tight, muscles are loose and her pH is down to 6.0.

We are watching her very closely and  hope to see a new little one in the barn soon.

Thanks for helping us watch her. I hope you can join us as we welcome Jordan's baby.

Thursday, January 26, 2017

Jordan is still keeping us waiting and watching.

All the signs say it could be any time now but it's all up to her.  Her pH is down to 6.2 tonight.

Hopefully we have a new baby in the barn soon.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

Jordan is getting closer.

Her bag is full and her rump muscles are soft.  Her pH has dropped to 6.4.  We will be watching her closely.

I got this picture off the cams this morning. Her belly has really dropped.

Jordan is making some quick changes.

I checked Jordan this evening and was surprised at how much she had changed since last night. Her bag is much fuller and her pH is at 6.9.  I will be checking her again in the morning.  Last year she foaled 24 days early and she is now 20 days from her due date so she may very well foal early again this year.

Jordan is wonderful mare and she has given us great foals.
She is such a good mom and her foals usually have striking marking like Jordan and her sweet disposition.

We are very much looking forward to our first foal this year.  I'll keep you updated.

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

It been a rainy couple of days here but with mild temperatures.  We have lots of mud but at least we don't have the icy conditions like so many of our friends in other areas. It was actually in the mid 70s here yesterday and we were able to give Jordan a bath.  She was so nice and clean...no longer clean after being outside today.  I would rather have a little dirt on her than make her stay in the stall all day.  She needs to get out and exercise and visit with her friends during the day unless the weather is really bad.

I am seeing some changes in her this evening. Her bag is increasing in size but not quite full yet.  Last year she foaled 24 days early so we are checking her closely every morning and evening. I'll keep you updated on her progress.

Thank you all so much for helping us watch her. Please give us a call if you see anything we should be aware of.

Have a good night.

It's time to start watching our mares and waiting anxiously for the arrival of their precious foals. This will be my first year to go through a foaling season without Wes with me.  Even when he could no longer physically help with the mares he was always watching with me and loved seeing the new babies.  Even though things are different, I am really looking forward to this foaling season and I'm glad to be able to share it with all of you.

We like to bring our mares in at night when they are about a month from their due dates.  We now have Jordan in the barn each night. Her due date is Feb. 9th.   I'll be posting updates on Jordan as she progresses.

Thanks for watching with us.
